Sellah Bogonko is the Co-Founder and CEO of Jacob’s Ladder Africa (JLA), a pan-African, youth-focused organisation on a bold mission to activate 30 million jobs in Africa’s green economy by 2033. JLA addresses the dual crises of youth unemployment and climate change by building green jobs through four pillars: Communications and Advocacy, Climate Entrepreneurship Development, Climate Intrapreneurship Development, and Skilling for Job Creation Pathways.
These efforts span research, a climate-tech incubator, and large-scale, government-linked programmes. JLA also leads the Africa Climate Ambassadors Programme (ACAP), which amplifies African voices driving a new climate opportunity narrative for the continent.
Sellah is also the founder of Zinduka, an apolitical, youth-driven platform empowering young Kenyans to engage in democracy and nation-building.
A recognised tri-sector leader, she brings rich experience across the private, public, and non-profit sectors. She holds a BA in Business, an MSc in Public Leadership, and is currently pursuing an MSc in Sustainable Development at the University of Sussex. She has also completed executive education in public policy at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government.
In 2024, Sellah was named a COP29 Impact Maker by the UNFCCC and participated in high-level global forums advocating for investment in green skills and youth employment.
