This Breathe Cities project’s goal is to review existing local bye-laws, engaging local government leadership and communities for incorporation of air pollution parameters in bye-laws. This will enhance enforcement capabilities of the local assemblies in Accra.

World Athletics plans to leverage marathon events to help engage local communities, recreational runners and city governments on the topic of air quality in Lagos, Nigeria and Warsaw, Poland. Air quality monitoring and engagement campaigns in the lead up and during city marathon events will be used to catalyse raised awareness and city commitment.

This grant support WRI’s CanAIRy Alert programme to launch and run an air pollution forecast tool and pollution origin insights tool. This grant will help develop these further and enable greater usability by the testbed cities, and also enable wider knowledge-sharing between other global south cities.
