This project aims at providing clear and solid evidence on the co-benefits for acting on air quality and climate, promoting policy measures that consider multiple benefits of different technologies, techniques and behavioural changes.

To help Polish cities prepare and implement air quality plans to fully comply with EU air quality Directives and to significantly reduce the number of most polluting boilers.

To help build guidance and establish a process for developing LEZ in Poland and to create an enabling environment at the local level, for example through the provision of expert support to local officials and decision-makers throughout LEZ development and implementation.

To gather data on air pollution in the surrounding of 5 selected schools and kindergartens in the Masovian Voivodeship of Poland. Also to raise awareness as to the impacts of the air pollution on children; prepare anti-smog plans together with engaged communities, encourage local authorities to enact these plans and engage business to help local authorities in it.

This grant enables CLF and the Providence Racial & Environmental Justice Committee to convene affected communities and equip them with the evidence needed to argue for legislative change. CLF and RJEC work with Brown University to convene a Resident Task Force, analyse sensor data on issues affecting them, and report their findings to lawmakers in Rhode Island and the White House.

The Alliance for Clean Air brings together leading businesses to commit to measure and reduce air pollutant emissions, invest in innovation for clean air, and champion the social, economic and climate benefits of tackling air pollution. This grant also supports the Global Future Council for Clean Air at the World Economic Forum.

The SEI-Y team closely collaborates with the Alliance for Clean Air and partners. They provide technical support and strategic guidance on quantifying air pollutant emissions, integrating these emissions into ESG/Sustainability reports, developing scenarios and targets, and addressing challenges identified with member feedback. The grant will enable more members to complete these tasks and create resources independently.

Smart Freight Centre’s Global Logistics Emissions Council (GLEC) developed a Black Carbon methodology to offer guidelines for the voluntary measurement and reporting of black carbon emissions (tank-to-wheel) in the logistics sector. In this project, SmartFreight will update their black carbon methodology and develop calculation guidelines for logistics chains, integrating these into the GLEC Framework.

This project is an extension of ShareAction's pilot project to introduce air quality to the investment sector. It will continue making progress on equipping investors with the knowledge, skills, tools and opportunities to engage companies on air pollution, while pushing clean air higher up companies' agendas in sustainability planning and ESG propositions, and helping organisations become more aware of its materiality.

This project has involved Ricardo creating a tool which allows UK businesses to estimate and report their air pollution emissions, alongside their GHG emissions. They are engaging UK businesses directly to use the tool.
