To ensure that credible evidence on the impacts of air pollution on people’s health and on effective solutions is better communicated and understood at a local and global level. This project will help to ensure that data is delivered to decision makers in a way that informs and drives ambitious action towards cleaner air.

This grant support WRI’s CanAIRy Alert programme to launch and run an air pollution forecast tool and pollution origin insights tool. This grant will help develop these further and enable greater usability by the testbed cities, and also enable wider knowledge-sharing between other global south cities.

Support a global network of advanced PM2.5 monitoring sites that improves the quality of global air quality data resources (e.g. global health impact assessments) by improving satellite data and global-scale air quality models. This grant will maintain operations of the network, sustain and enhance both global- and local-scale applications of the data, and diversify SPARTAN’s funding base.

Collecting and visualising data on air pollution is an essential first step for clean air campaigns. HabitatMap has revolutionised air quality data collection through their low-cost, wearable sensors. Campaigners worldwide use these sensors to advocate for environmental justice.

Enabling OpenAQ's platform to serve as the most useful and accessible air quality data platform in the world due to such qualities as being freely available; providing the greatest geographical coverage; providing centralised and directly comparable data; providing real-time data and historical data not typically saved on other platforms; and providing tools that allow stakeholders with varying technical competencies to use the OpenAQ platform to produce the evidence needed to demand clean air action.
